Apps are structured differently than websites and the copy has to be very succinct. The trend is to inject a brand voice that will engage users and to include a variety of content types, such as videos and text, to keep users involved.


Angel is a guest services app. I edited the microcopy, website copy and presentation copy. Launched in 2012 in Miami by Juan Carlos Abello, the company began developing the app in 2014. Nuvola won the Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge and, more importantly, has seen sales grow from zero to well over $1 million in under four years. 


This app was a large team effort that involved many writer, designers, and developers. It was created for Bluegreen Vacations. an international timeshare company, to help owners plan and enjoy their vacations. The app included detailed information on dozens of resorts and attractions in the immediate vicinity. It won an ARDA award.


I wrote the microcopy for this app under an NDA. It promises to be a disruptor in the way paperwork is completed. Sorry, but I cannot say more about this project.


The client was funding the app out of his personal funds. Prototypes had been created for the app. I did a feasibility analysis which showed the way the app was structured probably would not work under the market conditions of the time. I hope that I was able to save the client from losing many thousands of dollars. Less than 1% of apps are profitable, and many of these are gaming apps. But there is no denying the right app recipe can hit it big on Apple iOS and Android.
